Life in 6 Songs

Yay! I’m so excited to be taking part in Running On Sober’s awesome series Life in 6 Songs. Michelle, Jennie and Christy challenge their guests to tell about their own life stories: “The project is simple, though maybe not easy: Tell us a story–your story–in six songs. And then for fun, wrap up your life in a bonus seventh song.”

When I was asked to participate, I almost said no. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to find 6 (actually 7!) songs that spoke for me. It turned out to be easier and harder than I thought. I love this series and am fascinated by the songs people choose and how music works in our lives. Join me over there today and see what Kristen from Bye Bye Beer and I came up with!

  1. I only knew the Jason Mraz song but now I intend to listen to all the other ones too. It meant so much to me to read your story. God bless you and thank you!:)

  2. Music has a strong connection in my life too. The summer my parents divorced I about wore out Carole King’s Tapestry album. (I’m a bit older than you) and U2 is one of my all time favorite bands. Thanks for this peek into another side of your life Karen. I can imagine the easy and hard this was.

    1. I love Carol King! I don’t think I would’ve ever had a real appreciation for music if my dad didn’t have such an awesome record collection. I kind of miss being able to flip through albums and sit against a wall with my headphones on. 🙂

  3. Hi Karen!

I tried to leave a comment over at Running On Sober, but couldn’t find the comment section. Am I crazy? Anyway, LOVED the post, loved the songs, and loved learning more about you! Thanks for sharing this.

PS… totally related to you thoughts on Bowie, it is still how I feel about Springsteen (anyone that started liking him at Born in the USA is not a true fan!).
